Dianne Sonnenberg
Dianne Sonnenberg is an internationally acclaimed indigenous (Anishinaabe) artist born in Toronto, Canada. Based in Austin, Texas since 1992, she creates sculptural and mosaic art for public and private clients worldwide. Her work has attracted international attention through numerous awards, exhibits, and symposia, including “Best Architectural Mosaic” at the 2010 Mosaic Arts International Exhibit in Chicago, IL, and most recently in the prestigious Simposio Internacional de Mosaico in Rosarito, Mexico as one of 12 selected international artists.
Dianne holds memberships with the Society of American Mosaic Artists, the Texas Society of Sculptors (board member), the Austin Mosaic Guild (president), & The Stained Glass Association of America. She is the past Artistic Director at The Austin School of Mosaic Art (2017-2019), and a Sponsored Project with Austin Creative Alliance, where she focuses on community-based projects. Dianne has been a faculty member of The Contemporary Austin Museum Art School since 2007, and is a sought-after instructor across North America.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
My art is an expression of my identity, culture, and journey to reconnect with community as an Indigenous adoptee. My focus is truth, reconciliation, and the interconnectedness within all of creation. I endeavor to depict hope and empowerment for the future. While my materials and techniques are often non-traditional, they reflect purposeful choices and a strong connection to earth and nature.
